There are four parts to the CAE exam. You will complete papers Reading, Writing and Listening on the same day. The Speaking may be on a different day. You do the speaking with two examiners and one other candidate.

All candidates who take the exam will receive a Statement of Results. Candidates who achieve a score of 45 or above will also receive a certificate. The Statement of Results shows the score and grade that you achieved in the exam. The score is shown as a number on a scale of 0–100. The certificate will show the grade and/or CEFR level you have achieved.
Grades and scores: if you score between 60 and 100, you will be awarded a grade of A, B or C. Candidates whose score falls between 45 and 59 receive a Level B2 certificate instead of a grade.

The exam is accepted by thousands of higher education institutions around the world, including UK universities and colleges, almost all universities and TAFE institutions in Australia, and many leading universities in Canada and New Zealand. Universities and colleges recognise Cambridge English: Advanced (CAE) as proof that you are capable of studying at degree level in an English-speaking environment.
